Apply Online
Create an account with SchoolMint and begin the registration process by completing the online application. After applications are submitted, student transcripts are reviewed for eligibility (grade level and number of credits) and are entered into the lottery. On the designated lottery date (on or after March 18th), students will either receive an Offer or a seat on the Wait List. Applications received after the designated lottery date will be subject to eligibility verification and seat availability at the student’s chosen campus.
Complete the three phases of registration.
Once an offer is received, log in to SchoolMint to accept your offer and complete all required forms and uploads. Registration is broken into three phases, outlined below:
Phase 1: Initial Consultation- In person with student and parent
Once your paperwork has been verified, NSHS will send you a link to sign up for your initial consultation. This meeting walks students and parents through the process of applying to local colleges, answers questions about NSHS, and reviews documentation previously signed through SchoolMint.
Phase 2: Placement Testing and Academic Planning
College course selection is dependent upon placement testing through CSN, GBC, TMCC, or WNC. In lieu of testing, colleges may accept ACT® or SAT® scores for Math and English placement. Once your scores are posted, students will complete their individual NSHS Academic Plan with a staff member based upon their placement levels. This is your opportunity to visualize your academic pathway while at NSHS and maximize on the college courses available to you.
Click the “Prepare for Placement Test” button above to find helpful practice questions and tips.
Phase 3: CAP Form Submission and Final Grades
A Course Approval for Payment (CAP) form is the agreement between you, your parent/guardian, and NSHS to pay for your college classes. Once your college schedule is finalized, you will document which classes you will take in accordance with your individualized NSHS Academic Plan on the CAP form and submit it with proof of your schedule. You will also submit an unofficial transcript to show your current semester grades via SchoolMint.
Enroll
Once you have completed the three phases, NSHS will verify all of your documents, including checking your college schedule and making sure that your immunizations are up-to-date. When NSHS confirms that you have met all requirements, you will receive a Welcome Letter for the first day of school where you will complete your enrollment form to become an official NSHS student.
