Registration Dates
Fall Semester: February 1 to August 1 or until it is no longer possible to gain a college schedule
Spring Semester: November 1 to mid-January or until it is no longer possible to gain a college schedule
Step 1: Complete the online application.
Create an account with SchoolMint and begin the registration process by completing the online application.
Step 2: Review Lottery results.
After applications are submitted, student transcripts are reviewed for eligibility (grade level and number of credits). Students receive an Eligibility Confirmation and are entered into the NSHS Lottery. Our Lottery will take place on the 46th day after registration begins on February 1st each year. On this date, students will either receive an Offer or a seat on the Wait List.
Step 3: Submit all required paperwork.
Once an offer is received, log in to SchoolMint to complete all required forms and upload the necessary documents.
Step 4: Complete the five phases of registration.
Students will need to make multiple visits to NSHS to finalize their enrollment. This process is broken into five simple phases and is important to make sure that students are concurrently enrolling in NSHS and local colleges!
Students need to create accounts at local colleges, take college placement tests, develop their schedules, and register for their classes. Below is a brief description of each of these registration phases.
Phase 1: Initial Consultation
Once your paperwork has been verified, NSHS will send you a link to sign up for your initial consultation. This short meeting walks students and parents through the process of applying to local colleges. Following the Phase 1 appointment, students will complete their college placement tests.
Phase 2: Academic Planning
Students will upload their college placement scores, apply to remaining colleges, and update their academic plan. Staff will also walk students through how to use and manage their online registration portal.
Phase 3: Course Approval for Payment (CAP) Form
A Course Approval for Payment (CAP) form is the agreement between you, your parent/guardian, and NSHS to pay for your college classes. Once your college schedule is finalized, you will document which classes you will take in accordance with your individualized NSHS academic plan on the CAP form and submit it with proof of your schedule.
Phase 4: Final Transcript Submission
Phase four involves submitting your final transcript to show your current semester grades via SchoolMint. Staff will also confirm the student’s immunization compliance.
Phase 5: Complete Enrollment
You’re almost there! Once you have completed phase 1-4, NSHS will verify all of your documents, including checking your college schedule and making sure that your immunizations are up-to-date. When NSHS confirms that you have met all requirements, you may show up on the first day of school to complete your enrollment as an NSHS student.
