Renegades Give Back
Over the summer, our Renegades get to work on their summer courses and service hours! In this article, we are highlighting a few volunteer opportunities available in Southern Nevada for students to give back to the community.
The YMCA
Lend your time and talents so together we can strengthen Southern Nevada. The YMCA needs ongoing volunteers, one-time special event volunteers, and young adult volunteers 15 years of age or older.
As a volunteer, you’ll enhance the wellness of local families, maybe even your own neighbors. Volunteering can also improve your life. Here’s how:
- Build your network of professional and personal contacts
- Sharpen your abilities and gain marketable job skills
- Explore personal hobbies and activities
- Gain confidence as a leader
- Fulfill service requirements
- Create memories while making a positive impact in a welcoming environment
To volunteer with the YMCA, visit their website or contact Breezy Bolden, Chief Operating Officer, at bbolden@lasvegasymca.org or (702) 476-6747.
The DISCOVERY Children’s Museum
Volunteers are vital members of the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum team. They help with everything from cleaning and stocking our state-of-the-art exhibits to helping host special events. They are always looking for energetic, enthusiastic people to join their team. If you are searching for a unique and fun work environment while also making a difference in the lives of children, consider applying today!
Teen Volunteers are high school students ages 14-17 who are interested in gaining community service hours or work experience by supporting the Museum: “Teen Volunteers help bring the Museum to life for visitors and are given a chance to receive one-on-one coaching from our experienced staff members. They assist in sparking curiosity and igniting a love of lifelong learning by interpreting exhibit content to children, helping to prepare programming materials, facilitating special STEAM-themed activities, and assisting with special events.” The museum offers flexible schedules and will work with students to match their interests.
