“Usually, winter is when I get to see my family from Mexico. This year it didn’t happen, and I had very low expectations for my Christmas. Towards the end, I went to Lee Canyon with my friends. It was really fun because we didn’t know how to ride a snowboard and we spent most of the time falling to the ground, but we enjoyed it so much that we got ourselves a season pass and will be there many times.”

“During winter break my friends and I did photo shoots around the town. We went to the Red Rock Loop, Lake Las Vegas, and some parking lots. My favorite photos were the one with this Lexus with a camo wrap. I love the vibrant colors and how the photos came out.”

“Over the winter break, I got a puppy. His name is Harry. Harry is a six-week old Goldendoodle. I chose him specifically because he was so mellow as well as the biggest of his litter. I am so happy I was able to get him! I love him so much!”

“Over winter break, I was able to take my driver’s test. I ended up passing on the first try! The woman who observed me told my mom and I that I had the best score that she’d seen all week. I filled out the paperwork and waited to take my picture which felt like forever. I mean, it is the DMV. After taking my picture, I walked out with my mom who told me that none of my other family members had passed their drivers test on the first try. This made me feel really proud of myself and I drove home happy and as a licensed driver.”

“One special thing I did over winter break was spend New Year with the closest people in my life. I usually spent it with family but this year I got to spend it with my friends as well. On New Year’s Eve, we had spent half the day shopping for New Year presents, and then spent the rest of the day at my grandparents’ house. We cooked a lot of food and when the time came, we all got up, got loud on midnight then stayed up all night partying. I got home at 6 in the morning and slept the entire day!”

“The most special thing I did over winter break was taking my very own family picture with 4 different generations. The photoshoot was so much fun. My great grandmother, who is 78 years old, was able to be present for this photo which meant the world to us all. Family is important because it provides love, support, and construction of principles to each of its people.”

“Over winter break, I went to the lake with my friends. We went on Christmas day. We surfed and swam even though the water was freezing! We used lots of blankets and sweatshirts to try and keep warm, especially after we were wet. It was so much fun and a memory to remember!”

“During winter break my family and I went on many different bike rides and trails. We went to Lake Mead, Boulder City, and Lake Las Vegas. After our bike rides we would always stop and get lunch. The weather was perfect.”

Over winter break, my family and I visited the Grand Canyon. When I was first told we were going to go I thought about how boring it was going to be because it’s just a steep canyon. Although, it is much more than that. It has a history of being on a native reservation. We got to see their unique culture and the best part was that I got to share it with my family.”

“Due to the pandemic, my family has been struggling. Luckily, I have been able to work as a student and bring a little joy to my family this holiday season. I bought my dad and brother gifts that they loved. I bought my dog toys and a huge bone as shown the in picture. Lastly, I took them to a fancy Christmas dinner as shown in the second picture.”
