Enclosed: the official debut issue of the Nevada State Herald! The black and gold take on a new face in student-run journalism. The Nevada State Herald is the official student-run newsletter of Nevada State High School, inclusive of all eight campuses across the state of Nevada. The Herald aims to provide the most current news on Nevada State High School, connect the student body from each campus through diversity in thought and identity, and cultivate growth as it steps onto the journalistic stage. Beginning as a hope-filled vision of our founders, the Herald grew to be a formal establishment, composed of our adored staff of eleven, including talented editors, writers, layout editors, social media, webpage, and photo managers.
Every part of the publication is a collection of each member’s efforts and dedication: lively Google Meets, frequent communication between writers and editors, and boundless ideas that we are excited to incorporate in future publications. Our first issue provides an inside look at NSHS students as they begin the 2020-2021 school year through the virtual medium, with recaps of the Intro to College course and social point events. Our editor-in-chief shares her experience volunteering abroad in Taiwan, teaching local children English the summer before her senior year. For every issue, we’ll be including a “Renegade Recs” section where you will find monthly music, movie, and book recommendations from our staff; give them a listen/watch/read and let us know what you think! We only publish one issue per month, so make sure to follow us on social media for updates or check back with the NSHS blog in the first two weeks of each month. If you are a current Nevada State student, we’ll also be posting links to our articles on MOODLE. Read until the end to find out how you can get a chance to be involved with your school newsletter and share your stories through the Herald!
