There is no doubt that COVID-19 has affected essentially everything. For the Class of 2020, their Graduation ceremony is at the top of their list of events that were canceled or modified due to COVID-19. They deserved to be recognized for all their hard work and celebrated for achieving this major milestone. So, that’s exactly what Nevada State High School did. We put our minds together and created a very special drive-thru style Graduation Ceremony for our Class of 2020 that followed the state-mandated COVID-19 related guidelines and restrictions.
We held two separate ceremonies: one for our Northern Nevada Graduates and one for our Southern Nevada Graduates. Every Graduate had their moment on stage that included getting their name read, a photo opportunity, and even a tassel-turning moment. Students were able to bring up to six cars through the drive-thru allowing their family to celebrate with them. All of this with proper social distancing, of course.
While it wasn’t the graduation ceremonies that we all envisioned at the beginning of the school year, the graduates were still celebrated properly as made apparent by the overwhelming amount of gratitude and excitement we received from our graduates and their families throughout the ceremonies.
Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
