This classes count for both high school and college credit allowing our students to earn their high school diploma while getting a head start on college. Graduates report saving up to $80k in college tuition!

At NSHS, students prepare for graduation and beyond. We provide our students with the tools needed to receive a college degree and start a career. Students create resumes, write cover letters, and participate in mock interviews with members of the Nevada business community. They also train and test with WorkKeys®, ACT®’s job skills assessment system, to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate. In 2018, 45% of our students earned gold recognition and more than 10% earned platinum, which is the highest recognition available.
3. Increase your Freedom
NSHS gives you the opportunity to become a college student, which means you’ll experience the flexibility of planning your own schedule. You’ll choose your college professors, fulfill general education requirements like math and English, and explore a college major before you graduate from high school – giving the students a great experience in becoming more flexible and independent!
4. Accelerate your Opportunities
Earn your high school diploma while working toward your college degree with dual-credit courses. At NSHS, you’ll combine your last years of high school with your first years of college — allowing you to complete four years of school in half the time.
5 . Meet a Diverse Student Population
Students from all over Nevada attend NSHS and enrolling in college courses means that they are meeting people of various ages, backgrounds, and experiences. Getting a real college experience while still in high school results in an expanded worldview at a young age. Students also get to meet other like-minded high school students that have similar goals and priorities!
6. Challenge yourself
Students choose NSHS for a variety of reasons. One common factor is that they are motivated and ready to be challenged academically. Our students have reported that one of their favorite aspects of NSHS is overcoming the challenges they face with support of our staff and the skills our curriculum teaches them.
7. Core Values
Our core values are responsibility, integrity, and motivation; we live by these in every sense. We believe in taking personal responsibility for your actions, showing integrity by achieving consistent, quality, and honest results, and to show motivation by improving yourself and others!
8. Holistic Approach
Our mission is to support students in a college environment with personal, academic, and social skills. It goes without saying that academic preparation is extremely important when transitioning to college – or any type of education and training after high school for that matter. However, we understand that a student must be fully prepared for college and that goes far beyond academics. It’s important for students also learn the personal and social skills that are so important for all aspects of life after high school. We teach them to be independent and resourceful problem-solvers giving them the tools to tackle real-life problems. We also require our students to interact at social events for them to understand the importance of being social with their peers.
9. My Kid Standard
NSHS was built on a “my kid standard”. We approach everyday with the thought – “if it were my kid attending this school, how would I want them treated?” Everything that we do and every decision we make is done with a student centric approach.
10. Multiple Neighborhood Locations
We want every student in Nevada to have access to our program no matter their background. To achieve this, we adopted a small school concept that allows us to have multiple neighborhood locations spread out around the Las Vegas and Reno areas.
In Southern Nevada, we currently have five locations surrounding the Las Vegas area with plans to add two additional campuses for Fall of 2020. In Northern Nevada, we have one location in the Meadowwood area of Reno. Check them all out here: https://earlycollegenv.com/our-locations/
11 .Still get a High School Experience
NSHS offers several activities for students to participate in: The Student Union of Nevada State High School (student government), the prom committee, and the yearbook committee. As college students, NSHS students can participate in college activities and clubs as well. Throughout the year, social events are planned to bring students together, such as the school prom, trips to amusement parks, movie nights, bowling excursions, location get-togethers, and more.
You can still play the sport you love while attending NSHS, even though we don’t have any team. Per Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 386.560, students may participate in sports and other activities at their zoned school if the sport or activity is not offered at their charter school.
12. Numbers Don’t Lie
Our program works, and the data proves it. We have been operating for 15 years and have received continuous Exemplary or five-star AYP ratings from the State of Nevada. We have helped over 1,800 graduates attend and succeed in college, and our average ACT score is a 21.6 – 4.1 points higher than NV’s average in 2018. In two years at NSHS, students earn an average of 50 college credits and have reported saving up to $80,000 in college tuition!
