It is becoming abundantly clear why more and more parents are choosing a new charter school in Reno–Nevada State High School (NSHS). It is because this school is built on a “my kid standard” – visit one of the school’s founding members and current Chief Operations Officer Dr. John Hawk on his YouTube video as he thanks NSHS for his daughter’s success. In a recent survey of all parents at NSHS, over 90% of parents agree that the top three items why parents are choosing Nevada State High School are the following:
- NSHS is preparing my child for his/her transition to college (96% of parents agree). Parents are finding that students are embracing Nevada State High School’s pillars to successfully transitioning to college personally, academically, and socially. One NSHS student comments, “NSHS socially provides me with the ability to meet new students and interact with people I would have never thought of meeting. My Transitions course helps students meet with others from different backgrounds.”
- NSHS educational program is of high quality (94% of parents agree). Parents embrace the high-quality program that Nevada State High School has shown throughout the years including: a) 5-star designation by Nevada Department of Education, b) 100% of students meet any necessary college remediation, c) 98% graduation rate, 77% of students meet their college core classes, and student financial savings from $5,500 to $80,000 (in and out of state tuition transfers).
- NSHS is building my child’s habits of personal responsibility (94% of parents agree). During a survey of all NSHS students, two of these students commented on personal responsibility including: “Nevada State High School personally provides me with support in my personal and family issues” and “Personally, NSHS provides me with the budgeting skills needed to excel in life in general.”
Nevada State High School works at personally, academically, and socially transitioning students to college. The parents and students believe in these pillars and embrace the school’s core values of responsibility, integrity, and motivation. The time is now to start joining other parents and students who are choosing Nevada State High School for a real college experience in Reno.
