• Name: Jacob Pectol
• Grade: 11
• Why did you choose to attend Nevada State High School (NSHS)? I chose to go to Nevada State High School because of the amazing opportunities that it provides for its students.
• Describe a great experience you’ve had at NSHS. The best experience that I have received from NSHS is the trip to Magic Mountain. That trip was a great start to the amazing school year that I am having by introducing me to a few colleges.
• What has been your greatest challenge at the school? My greatest challenge has been getting used to the new setting of college. But I am overcoming that as each week goes on.
• What have you learned that’s made a difference to you? Time management has made the biggest difference for me, because now if I manage my time correctly school and activities are so much easier to deal with.
• What are your plans for after graduation? My plan for after graduation is to join the Coast Guard and do search and rescue because I really enjoy helping other people and this is a way I can achieve that.
• What piece of advice would you share with new NSHS students? A piece of advice that would help not only a new NSHS student but every student is to learn how to manage your time. Put things that need to be done first and things that you don’t need to last. It sounds simple but is hard to achieve for some students.
• Tell us about your position as a bat boy for the Las Vegas 51s. As bat boy of the Las Vegas 51s, I tend to the baseball players’ needs and help assist the flow of the baseball game by retrieving bats and giving balls to the umpire. I also get to meet some players that have the potential to make it in the majors — so far, I’ve gotten the chance to meet Dominic Smith and Ahmed Rosario.
• How did you get involved with the team? How has it changed you? My brother started working there before I did and he always said how much he loved it, so I decided to apply as well. I have acquired new skills, such as adjusting and cooperating with many different personalities.
• Who inspires you? The biggest inspiration to me has been my family. My brother and I have a super close relationship and have kept close through the toughest of times. Me and my mom have a very special relationship, and me and my dad have always been best buds.
• If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? My dream place to travel is England. It is a beautiful country and I absolutely love their accents.
