Dr. Johnathan David Hawk is the Chief Operations Officer of Nevada State High School, a charter school that services 312 11th and 12th grade students getting an early college experience. Dr. Hawk’s responsibilities involve finances, governance, and facilities of the school. John was a former math teacher in the Clark County School district for 8 years after graduating from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Fredonia in 1996. By the fall of 2001, John had earned his M.Ed. and Ed.D. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. During that time, John was elected to the Nevada State Board of Education where he honorably served four years. John was a regional trainer of teachers and produced a 20-page tri-annual magazine called ShopTALK for distribution to over 15,000 teachers to help increase student achievement. For two years, John has been serving as a trustee on the Board for the Henderson Chamber of Commerce and has led a successful expansion of Nevada State High School into the Summerlin area of Las Vegas. The school has received exemplary and five-star designations and has been ranked nationally as a top school for the past 10 years. John looks to continue expanding and sharing his experience to help other educators get students better prepared for the transition to college.
