The Tuition Payment Voucher is essentially every student’s scholarship, and if it is not completed correctly and on time they will lose the ability to take college classes for free.
When a student has planned their schedule for the semester they will fill out a voucher listing all classes they are enrolled in. This form is to be filled out with the student’s final and actual schedule. After the voucher is submitted, schedule changes are no longer allowed without approval from NSHS administration. Any changes made prior to approval will be invalid, and student classes will not reconcile at the end of the semester resulting in students paying for any non-approved classes.
When the form is signed and submitted by both parent and student, they are agreeing to be held responsible for any discrepancies with the signed voucher. This means that class schedules at the end of the semester must match the classes listed on the voucher. If they do not match exactly, the student/parent must reimburse NSHS for the discrepancies prior to being issued a new voucher for the following semester.
New students will call the office at (702) 953-2600 and make an appointment with Martin Gaut for a class scheduling session. Please call for appointment times and be advised each session will last roughly one hour.
New students will plan a class schedule with Martin based on their academic plans and accuplacer scores. Students will not schedule their CEP class until they bring in their proficiency results.
Upon presentation of proficiency results and official transcripts, students may finalize their schedules. New students who have proof of proficiency results and have passed all areas (excluding *Writing for incoming juniors) may sign up for their CEP class. Students who have never tested and students who are non-proficient in any area will be required to sign up for *Proficiency CEP.
New students will obtain a tuition payment voucher after official transcripts and Proficiency results are received by NSHS.
Students will carefully fill out the voucher appropriately with their final and actual class schedule. Make sure all class changes have been made before filling out the voucher. Keep the form legible and neat or it will not be accepted.
Between December 7-18th all students must submit their completed voucher in person with the appropriate signatures for their classes to be paid for. If students do not submit the form within the designated time period their schedule will be purged and they must re-enroll and start the entire process over again.
Returning students will meet with Dr. Hawk during their CEP classes to discuss schedules. If students are not in CEP during Dr. Hawk’s visit, it is their responsibility to obtain the voucher from NSHS administration.
Students will plan their schedules based on their college and high school academic plans.
Students may sign up for COMPASS based on academic standing. If they pass all their classes, are not on probation, and passed all proficiencies, they may sign up for COMPASS. Those who receive poor academic standing will be required to retake CEP, and those who are non-proficient in any area must take **Proficiency CEP.
Returning students will obtain a tuition payment voucher once they sign up for COMPASS.

Students who do not follow the above steps will be purged from the NSHS system entirely. Regardless of if the student is returning or new, they will have to submit a new application and begin the process again. Be sure all changes to class schedules have been made before filling out and submitting the tuition payment vouchers. NO EXTRA COPIES WILL BE GIVEN.
*1. The writing proficiency is not applicable to incoming juniors because they will not take it until their junior year at NSHS. It does, however, apply to incoming seniors.
**2. Proficiency CEP meets twice weekly for an hour and a half each day to prepare students for all proficiency tests.
